AIM student Kailesh Reitmans Composes His Way to the Top

29 June 2017

One of our talented students is hitting all the right notes in the music world.

Kailesh Reitmans, who is currently studying a Bachelor of Music (Composition & Music Production) at our Sydney campus, has just been selected to participate in the 2017/18 Fanfare Competition – part of the prestigious Australian Combined Schools Music Festival (ACSMF).
There were more than 100 entrants, and only 8 winning participants. Well done, Kailesh!
Fanfare is an Australian competition for young composers aged 12-21. Each year, budding musicians and composers can enter with a 30-second score; selected participants will work with industry professionals including an esteemed conductor, mentor composers and sound engineers, and have their compositions refined and recorded by the Australian Youth Orchestra. They’ll then be broadcast at performance venues around Australia.

We spoke to Kailesh and asked him about his love of music: “Music – it's a field often discouraged and requires great passion and persistence; for me, that's all the more of an insistence that I must do it. AIM has provided such a diverse range of opportunities, from orchestration to production. I’ve gained valuable skills and experiences which will not only sustain me in the modern music industry, but help me thrive.”
Excellent work, Kailesh. We can’t wait to see what you do next!
