The Diploma of Music (Audio) introduces students to the practical concepts of music, music production and sound engineering. 

Students are introduced to the theoretical tools and techniques of sound and music production and acquire practical experience in AIM's recording facilities. Students also learn to collaborate with others in a music and production environment.

Audio students also undertake core studies in:
Ensemble (group) work, performance, production, management, media and technology units, theoretical and aural musicianship, historical and cultural studies of music

AIM Recording Studios - Sydney


With the best in digital and vintage analog production equipment, AIM Recording Studios are custom designed and ready to teach you all the skills you need know to build a career as an Audio engineer. Recordings can be captured from the fully equipped studio spaces, from any control room in the facility, with video monitoring 
and the ability to record live performances.

AIM Recording Studios - Melbourne

Studio 1 at AIM Melbourne has a rich, warm sounding analog TOFT console and is suitable for band recording and mixing. The studio also features an AVID Artist Series Mix control surface, and is excellent for controlling Pro Tools, Logic X and other digital audio workstations.

The studio is also complimented by a comprehensive selection of studio microphones – Shure, AKG, Rode, Audio Technica.

The main recording space is suitable for band recording, and features a Yamaha grand piano.

AIM Facilities

The AIM campus also includes a fully equipped library, multiple live performance spaces and main concert hall. AIM is an ideal place to learn the craft of sound engineering with its integration into the broader music industry, along with performance, production and management streams operating from the one campus.

Pathway to a Bachelor of Music

The Diploma of Music can also provide a pathway to the Bachelor of Music, pending results in the first part of the course. For the first two study periods, Diploma students receive specialist units of study. In study periods three and four, Diploma students continue their study as per Bachelor one and two.
