Classical students @ the Australian Concerto & Vocal Competition

Two AIM classical students returned from Townsville QLD recently after attending the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition.

The Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition (ACVC) is an internationally recognised competition held annually in Townsville, offering a unique opportunity for emerging musicians to be extended. The Competition adjudicators are recognised both nationally and internationally for their expertise and interest in encouraging musical development.

AIM Classical Performance student Nathaniel Kong was awarded 'Most Promising Pianist ‘Frank Carroll Memorial Award’ sponsored by Anne Brook-Wagner and Alan Stephenson.

Heath Henn also performed the Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 3 and Nathaniel performed Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.2.

Held over five days in July, the Competition attracts outstanding musicians from around the world who perform works from concerto and opera repertoire with professional accompanists. Entrants come from places as far afield as Moscow, Poland, New Zealand and South Korea.

It’s prestige as a national event is now well established with many of our Open instrumentalists being finalists and winners of the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards.

AIM congratulates both Heath and Nathaniel for this great achievement & experience.
