Jennifer Murphy

Head of Music Theatre, Australian Institute of Music

Jennifer is a performer, producer and artistic director with more than three decades in the music and musical theatre industry. After starting her career on The Reg Quartley Childrens TV Show at 10 years of age, she came to prominence when she was cast by Broadway director Harold Prince in the lead role of the Australian premiere performance of Evita.

Jennifer has been listed in The Australian Book of Lists as one of Australia’s best female vocalists, and has directed and performed in shows Australia wide and overseas. She is also the Artistic Director of the Catholic Schools Performing Arts unit (CaSPA), and is a voice and performance coach for television, film and theatre productions.

Jennifer was voice coach and music consultant on feature films such as Razzle Dazzle and Thunderstruck, and voice consultant for musicals Dusty and Priscilla.

A passionate nurturer of creative talent, Jennifer has been the head of Music Theatre at AIM for a decade. Jennifer’s students have gone on to appear as leads in major music theatre productions in Australia including Dirty Dancing, Les Misérables and The Lion King.

The areas of study offered to the Music Theatre students at the Australian Institute of Music include a focus on the development and performance of Australian works.

Jennifer is thrilled to have been part of the workshop process and production of many new Australian works at AIM.
